Public consultation: Informing a new measure of crime harm based on public perceptions

The Crime Statistics Agency (CSA) has developed a new draft measure of crime harm as a complementary measure to apply to the suite of current reported crime data for Victoria.
 
The new measure will be used to report crime based on the potential harm to victims as perceived by the public. The CSA has consulted with experts, reviewed criminological literature and consulted with members of the Victorian public to develop the new draft measure. As a result, we have identified three categories of harm that can be applied to crime and reflect the harm victims may feel as a result of those crimes. 

The CSA is now seeking feedback on this draft measure. You can review the discussion paper, which details the harm categories, and submit your feedback by visiting the Engage Victoria (External link) webpage.
