Coding amendment - drug type by drug offence

The Crime Statistics Agency (CSA) has identified an issue with the coding of drug type for offence type C10 Drug dealing and trafficking in the Recorded Offences data visualisation published on 20 September 2018. A number of offences within Drug dealing and trafficking in the ‘Drug offence by drug type’ tab were appearing as ‘Not Coded’ when a drug type was, in fact, identifiable in the data. This coding issue has not impacted on the number of offences recorded for this offence type or any data or totals appearing elsewhere in the visualisation or anywhere else in the published recorded crime statistics for the year ending 30 June 2018.

The CSA has rectified this coding issue and has refreshed the visualisation with data that reflects all drug type codes associated with Drug dealing and trafficking recorded offences. As a result the Recorded Offences visualisation tab ‘Drug offence by drug type’ has been updated and so has the associated content in Table 8 ‘Drug offences - July 2008 to June 2018’ in the 'Data Tables - Offence Visualisation - year ending June 2018' spreadsheet that are available on the website.

If you have used data contained in the Drug offence by drug type tab in the Recorded Offences visualisation or Table 8 ‘Drug offences - July 2008 to June 2018’ in the associated excel spreadsheet, please ensure you refer to the new data available on the website.
